It cannot be purchased in retail stores. The only way to obtain it is through second-hand websites and stores.
It comes packaged with three Micro Darts.
The Backlash was designed to act as a "remote activated sniper attack" weapon. It features a large suction cup that allows the blaster to be attached to a wall or other surface; it is the only Nerf blaster designed like this. It does not feature a trigger and is instead fired via cord. The cord allows the blaster to be fired from up to three feet away.
The Backlash was released as a promotional blaster for the 1997 film Batman & Robin under a new gray and black color scheme; this release gave it the name Bat Tazer. This particular blaster was notable for featuring a handle.
The Backlash was re-released alongside the rest of the Ambush Rip Rockets line in 2000 under new packaging.
The Backlash has been released in the following color schemes:
- Blue, black and brown
- Black and gray (Batman promotional blaster)
- Gray with handle (Batman promotional blaster)
