The Cyclotron is a Nerf blaster that was released in 2003 under the Atom Blasters series.

It comes packaged with a Ball Tube and six Ballistic Balls.

Details[]

The Cyclotron is a crank-action single-fire ball blaster. It does not feature a firing trigger and instead is fired by turning the crank on the right side of the blaster. This operates a kind of rotary paddle mechanism that takes a ball from the blaster's eight-ball tube magazine and thrusts it through the barrel, firing it. It is not designed for left-handed use.

History[]

During pre-production, the Cyclotron was under the name Rapid Fire Ballzooka. This was to be the replacement to the Ballzooka MP150.

Trivia[]

  • The Cyclontron's hand-crank function is seen with only one other blaster; the 1994 Razorbeast of the Max Force series. To date, no other Nerf blasters use this mechanism.
  • The blaster's loading tube is technically a magazine by definition, making the Cyclotron the first true magazine-fed blaster, predating the N-Strike Longshot CS-6's clip system by three years.
  • The Cyclotron's firing mechanism is most similar to that of the Koosh Galaxy blasters, with the main difference being that it uses the bending of the plastic arm as the power, whilst the Koosh Galaxy blasters use a roll-spring and a weight to put force into the plastic arm to fire balls.
