The Hornet AS-6 is an air system Nerf blaster that was released in 2004 under the N-Strike series.
It comes packaged with six Micro Darts.
It is a Toys "R" Us exclusive.
Details
The Hornet has a rather futuristic appearance due to the blaster's many curved edges. It does not have any tactical rails. The top back of the blaster features a block of plastic used for attaching it to the Titan AS-V.1.
The blaster accepts any kind of Micro Dart. The Hornet features an orange button, called the "Blast Button", on the left side of the blaster and to the left of the trigger.
Unlike other air-powered blasters, it has a priming slide located at the top front. There is also a sort-of "shots-remaining" indicator in the slide. A sight is located on the priming slide; it is made of soft plastic, so care is needed for it to not get bent.
Modes of fire
The Hornet has two firing modes: semi-automatic and multi-fire, the latter of which fires all darts at once. The Hornet's semi-automatic mode works much like a regular blaster and fires on trigger pull. The blaster's multi-fire mode is fired by pressing the "Blast Button".
History
The Hornet may be considered the successor to the Blast Fire DX500. This is due to similar functions and design, most notably the "Blast Button".
It was first released in the Unity Power System along with the Titan AS-V.1 and the Scout IX-3 in 2003. It was the first blaster to be sold with the "AS" blaster code. It was later released by itself with a new color scheme.
Color schemes
The Hornet has been released with the following color schemes:
- Original/N-Strike (gray, blue, silver, and orange)
- Unity Power System (gray, red, black, silver, and orange)
- Hulk Abomination Blaster (gray, green, silver, black, and orange)
Reloading and firing
The Hornet is reloaded by loading any type of Micro Dart into each of its six barrels. Next the user slides the priming slide forward and back. After that, the user pumps the handle as desired; the Hornet takes about ten pumps for maximum power.
Pull the firing trigger to fire a single dart; press the "Blast Button" to fire all loaded darts.
