It cannot be purchased in retail stores. The only way to obtain it is through second-hand websites and stores.
It is a ball that, inside, has an absorbent material which allows it to soak up water like a sponge. Once it is filled with water, it is meant to be tossed at either an opponent or a target. It features the 1992 Nerf logo on the ball several times. It has so far been seen in two colors; red and blue, each color apparently having equal performance. It is unknown but likely that more colors were introduced.
Like the remainder of the Hydro line, the official year of release is unknown, however it is believed to have been released in either 1992 or 1993. The ball made an appearance at the 1993 New York Toy Fair as well.
The Hydro Ball has been released with the following color schemes:
- It is similar to the Nerf Ball in shape and design.
- It was one of only two products released within the Hydro theme before it was discontinued. A third product, the Harpoon Crossbow, was cancelled before release.
