The Scout IX-3, an example of an internal single fire blaster.

An internal single fire (abbreviated as IX with N-Strike number codes) blaster is a type of single-fire dart blaster. They are loaded by the muzzle and often have dart holders located on the blaster for quick reload.

Unlike external single fire blasters, internal single fire blasters have reverse plunger systems. This makes them less powerful than EX blasters and less popular in the modification community. the advantage to the reverse plunger system, is that it allows for very compact slide action pistols, as opposed to the pull back system of the direct plunger single shots.

The internal single fire series was continued on to the successor to the N-Strike series, the N-Strike Elite series, when two continuing blasters were given repaints.
