Official description

History

The football was initially released under the Koosh brand some time in the early 1990s. It is likely to have joined the Nerf brand when the Koosh line was dropped around 1999. Around this time a whistling variant of the Pocket Vortex was introduced known as the Vortex Pocket Howler. The fins on this particular variant are substantially blockier than a normal Pocket Vortex football.

It was originally titled the Pocket Vortex, but was renamed in 2011 due to the release of the Vortex series to avoid confusion. Despite this, the word "Vortex" is still printed into the football.
