The Vigilante is a single-fire Zuru blaster that was released in 2012 under the X-Shot series.

It comes packaged with ten X-Shot Darts.

Details

The Vigilante is a large-sized blaster that was released in 2012, and is modeled after an over-under, double-barrel shotgun. This blaster, unlike the blasters in the original X-Shot line that fire both darts and water, fires only darts and no other ammunition types (alongside the Turbo Fire and Scope). It features a built-in stock, a pump-action priming handle, as well as a set of iron sights on the top of the blaster. The stock has space inside it to store up to four extra darts, very similar to that of the Buzz Bee Double Shot.

Although the blaster is quite large in size, it cannot hold more than six darts at a time, despite the blaster coming with ten darts. Unlike other shotgun-esque blasters such as the Nerf Barrel Break IX-2, the Buzz Bee Double Shot, Hawk and Rapid Fire Tek, after the blaster is loaded with darts, it must still be primed after by cocking the front handle.

The blaster's mechanism to open the barrels is conveniently located directly above where the handle is situated for ease of access. The blaster has two handles, the top of which being the main handle (both handles could be used, in theory). A notable difference about this blaster is the fact that it does not use shells, which the previous Thundershot used. This is one of the few shotgun-esque blasters on the market to not utilize shells. Instead, the darts are placed in fixated barrels on the inside of the blaster.

History

This blaster was first shown in late 2011 alongside the Stalker and Xcess. This blaster was given a release some time in mid-2012. This blaster was re-released under the Air Zone line in 2012; performance remained unchanged.

In late 2013, three new X-Shot lines were introduced (X-Shot Excel, X-Shot Girl, and X-Shot Zombie), consisting of some re-released versions of previous X-Shot blasters as well as new blasters. The Vigilante was re-released in two out of the three lines, being released under the X-Shot Excel and X-Shot Zombie lines. For these new lines, the Vigilante was packaged with new Excel Darts. The Vigilante was also re-released in 2013 with updated internals and claims of 65-foot ranges. Despite this, for unknown reasons, the X-Shot Zombie variation of the Vigilante only advertises a range of up to 55-foot ranges.

Color schemes

The Vigilante has been released in the following color schemes:

  • Green, black, and orange
  • White, black, and orange (X-Shot Zombie)
  • Yellow, blue, and orange (X-Shot Excel)
  • White, black, and orange (Air Zone)

Reloading and firing

To reload the Vigilante, simply press the orange piece at the back of the blaster to unlock the loading mechanism. Insert two darts into the blaster, and close the blaster back up. Pull the handle at the front until a click is heard, and release forward.

Pull the trigger to fire a dart. Pulling the trigger again fires the second dart.

Trivia

  • The Vigilante, alongside the Micro, Scope, Turbo Fire and Stalker, is one of the few X-Shot blasters to only fire one ammunition type.
  • Despite bearing a double-barrel shotgun appearance, the blaster can only fire one dart at a time.
  • It has been sometimes been confused with the BuzzBee Gunsmoke.
